In September 2025, London hosted the Global Sustainability Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious events in the field of sustainability and responsible business. The black-tie gala evening, held at The Grand on Trafalgar Square, brought together leaders, innovators, and corporate representatives from across the globe.
This year, Prague-based Soulmates Ventures was named among the top five players worldwide in two categories – Sustainable Finance Awards and Future Leader. With this recognition, Soulmates Ventures stood alongside internationally established names such as Aston Martin, ABB, DP World, EY, AWS, Cisco, BASF, DuPont and others – a comparison that underlines the scale of the achievement.
In the Sustainable Finance category, the award ultimately went to Scala Data Centers, a global leader in hyperscale data centres powered entirely by renewable energy. Yet Soulmates Ventures, with its focus on sustainable investments and support for technology-driven startups, firmly established itself among the global elite. In the Future Leader category, Soulmates Ventures was represented by its own sustainability expert, Tomáš Kabeláč, who has long-standing experience in driving sustainability initiatives.
The importance of this recognition is further underlined by the fact that Soulmates Ventures is classified under the European Union’s SFDR Article 9 regulation. This designation, often referred to as dark green funds, is reserved for investment funds that demonstrably channel capital into sustainable and meaningful projects with measurable positive outcomes.
For Soulmates Ventures, placement at the Global Sustainability Awards marks not only a major milestone in its development, but also a significant acknowledgement of the Czech venture capital ecosystem on the international stage. It demonstrates that even a relatively young and small team from Prague can stand alongside the world’s largest players while strengthening the connection between profitability and sustainability.
It feels almost like a miracle that we managed to stand out among such icons of global business. The fact that the jury recognised our work in two categories, shows that even a fund from Prague can be globally relevant. For us, this double recognition is already a tremendous victory, but one that also brings greater responsibility. And we accept it humbly,” says Hynek Sochor, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Soulmates Ventures.
