We’ve partnered up with GreenHack for the fifth year in a row. The 2026 edition of this two-day hackathon will focus on AI and sustainability; a topic very much present on our daily agendas, which is why we’ll also back the contestants with practical mentorship. If you’re a founder or an innovator considering joining, this is for you, because we’re unpacking everything we look for in the pre-idea, pre-pitch deck stage – at the hackathon and beyond.
Our connection to GreenHack 2026 feels natural, as our mission is to accelerate bold, innovative entrepreneurs building a more sustainable future. AI is an important player in the game, but beware – we’re most interested in long-term results and real, systemic change. Whether you look at Twin Science’s AI-powered learning platform or Fluosphera’s preclinical biotech solution, technology in our portfolio always directly supports scalable, innovative solutions and is never self-serving. Profitability is another key aspect at play. Our portfolio companies prove that financial profitability is essential for long-term growth and a positive impact on society, the economy, and the environment. And this is exactly what we’ll be eyeing at GreenHack.
What exactly do we look for?
“The biggest mistake founders make is thinking that sustainability reporting is just a back-office compliance task. But by 2027, it will be a primary commercial gatekeeper,” stresses our Investment Manager Julian Toth. Realistically, 99% of presented ideas may not make it beyond the pitch deck session. That’s why we look for the 1% that have sustainability baked into their DNA and yet manage to keep their numbers as strong as their environmental impact.
And of course, personal drive and strong conviction are what actually sell the pitch. Michal Sikyta – our Managing Partner – highlights that “founders need to show drive and conviction in what they are building, but the ability to reflect critically and listen is not a weakness. This does not happen that often, but when overconfidence appears, it can quickly close the door with some investors.” (Read more of Michal’s thoughts here.)
Ready to build?
If you’ve read this and still feel encouraged, this is your first sign that you’re thinking in the right direction. The deadline for applying closes on May 20th 2026, so make sure you sign up here.
Our Governance Director Jan Čapek and Investment Manager Julian Toth will see you at the event (and you’re also welcome to add them on Linkedin). They’re ready to dive into the trenches with you, and we’re genuinely thrilled to see the solutions you’ll build.
A big thank you to Tomáš Studeník, Petr Vaňásek and the entire GreenHack team for making this happen. We’re excited to be a part of this amazing initiative.
